At Catholic Charities, we are proud to honor Catholic Schools Week by celebrating the incredible contributions of students from Catholic schools across Colorado. As a Catholic organization, we deeply value Catholic education and its emphasis on service, compassion and community. Over the years, we have been privileged to partner with many Catholic schools in meaningful ways—from student volunteer programs and donation drives to initiatives that help high school students fulfill their community service hours for graduation.
Our Partnerships with Catholic Schools
We have collaborated with schools such as Arrupe Jesuit High School, Mullen High School, Christ the King Roman Catholic School, St. Therese Catholic School, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School and many more. These partnerships have allowed students to make a tangible impact on the lives of those we serve, while also learning the value of giving back to their communities.
Student Stories of Service
Jannel Marlos, Senior, Arrupe Jesuit High School
During her senior day of service at Catholic Charities Little Flower Assistance Center, Jannel worked diligently cleaning and sweeping the floors. Beyond her school’s organized efforts, she volunteers independently during the summers at her local library. Reflecting on her experiences, Jannel shared, “These volunteer experiences have affected me in a positive way, especially because of Arrupe Jesuit High School. We’ve been doing this since my freshman year. It’s taught me to be selfless, not just worry about myself, and to help people who are in need.”
Emily de Leon Rodriguez, Senior, Arrupe Jesuit High School
Emily’s dedication has shone through in multiple instances. At Little Flower Assistance Center, she organized hygiene products for individuals in need during her senior day of service. She also volunteered at Catholic Charities Marisol Tea event, where she helped serve food and clean up afterward. “For me, it feels good volunteering because I know I’m helping people out there who really need it.”
Ruby Rhaw, Junior, Mullen High School
Ruby spent her volunteer day at Samaritan House in the warehouse, sorting shoe donations to ensure they were fit for use. Reflecting on her experience, Ruby said, “I thought my volunteer experience was really cool! We’ve talked with our teachers about how sometimes the best way to serve others is by supporting those who are serving others. It was a great experience that allowed me to grow.”
Making a Difference at Little Flower Assistance Center
Little Flower Assistance Center in Aurora serves as Catholic Charities largest volunteer hub and a true powerhouse for community engagement. In November and December of 2024, the center’s Joy Drive supported nine Aurora schools and one nonprofit organization, providing 516 Joy Boxes to K-8 students. These boxes included personal care items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, body wash, hand sanitizer and chapstick, along with age-appropriate books.
A special touch to every Joy Box was the handwritten letters and hand-packed candy bags created by students. Middle school students from Christ the King Roman Catholic School and elementary school students from St. Therese Catholic School wrote all 516 personalized notes, ensuring each child received a heartfelt message. Additionally, these students hand-packed every bag of candy included in the boxes, putting care and attention into every detail. We extend a heartfelt thanks to these schools for their incredible efforts and dedication.
