Curtis Martin invites men to pursue greatness

FOCUS CEO will give simple steps to strengthening relationships at SonRise breakfast June 20
Now is the time for men to rediscover and recommit to fulfilling their calling as authentic men of God, according to FOCUS CEO Curtis Martin.
Martin shared a few thoughts about the fatherhood and men’s role before his keynote speech at the SonRise fundraiser breakfast June 20 at the Denver Athletic Club. The breakfast is hosted by Marisol Health, a life-affirming medical clinic for women and men in Denver and Lafayette, to encourage men to rise to the challenge of being who they’re meant to be.
“Biblically and historically, men have been called to guard, protect and lead, modern culture has undermined these necessary roles,” Martin wrote before the breakfast event. “It is time to rediscover and recommit to being authentic men of God.”
Martin continued that he will invite the audience to follow a couple of simple steps to “strengthen their relationships and deepen their pursuit of greatness.”
"Greatness and holiness are designed to be learned by example, not, primarily, by attending classes,” Martin said, adding that men need to attend the breakfast to hear his simple steps. “Pope Benedict XVI said, ‘The world offers you comfort, you were not made for comfort, you were made for greatness.’ Men need to understand the vital link between following Christ and pursuing greatness.”
In his own life, Martin said being a father challenges him to grow every day.
“I am challenged every day, being a father is the hardest thing I have ever done,” he said. “I would like to think that striving for greatness, and failing more often than I would like, and then starting over again has left an impression on my children and encouraged them to pursue greatness in Christ, as well.”
