“The struggle is real. It’s a long story, but I wanted my son. I was going through a divorce, and she kicked me out. I went through a lot of hard work and then job terminations. Now my son and I are moving into a two-bedroom apartment. It’s so awesome. I’m cleaning our room at Samaritan House shelter now for the next family. It’s incredible. God has been watching over me. It started about three years ago when the divorce began. I was searching for shelter. I googled emergency shelter and found Samaritan House. When I first came here, I didn’t think I could do this. I give credit to Samaritan House for my sobriety. I was able to move over to the family floor after I got my 16-year-old son. I’ll never forget this place. They’ve affected me with their kindness. It’s not just a shelter. They really care. You can tell. My case manager helped with all the resources. Now I want to be a cook. I know it’s going to take a long time, but that’s my goal. If it wasn’t for this place I wouldn’t be where I’m at. I’ve seen some of the things God has done. It gives me chills. It raised me up.”
