The Celebrate Life Rally and March will be a bold witness against abortion on Saturday, Jan. 15
Denver, CO—(January 6, 2022)—“Honoring Courageous Mothers” is the theme of the 2022 Celebrate Life Rally and March, to begin 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, on the west steps of the Colorado State Capitol in Denver.
“This year's march is a rallying cry for the pro-life movement in Colorado given a potential ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court this year that could turn abortion law back to the states — and a reported move by Colorado lawmakers to embed abortion in state law,” said Lynn Grandon, director of Respect Life Denver, a ministry of Catholic Charities of Denver, which organizes the rally and march.
Grandon is available for media interviews in advance of Jan. 15 and during the rally and march.
The local and federal movements surrounding life and abortion are expected to draw thousands to the annual rally and march in Denver, which is also the week before the anniversary the court’s Roe v. Wade decision in 1973.
Archbishop Samuel J. Aquila of the Archdiocese of Denver will celebrate Mass at 11:30 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 1530 Logan St. in Denver. Afterwards local radio host and pro-life advocate Dan Caplis will emcee the rally at 200 E. Colfax Ave. in Denver. He will be followed by keynote speakers Bishop Jorge Rodríguez, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Denver, and Donald Sweeting, president of Colorado Christian University in Lakewood. Then the crowd will gather to march at 2 p.m. around Civic Center Park with “Life” signs depicting the Colorado flag image.
Families, children, seniors, and church groups are all invited to sing along with music performed by Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and the St. John Vianney Theological Seminary choir before marching with ethnic dancers and music.
