Welcome Saint Teresa Prayer Society Members. Join us as we begin our prayer journey. This month, we invite you to reflect and pray about respect for life and sharing the love, mercy and compassion of Jesus Christ with others. Together, we can lift-up the lives of each person we meet and change our culture.
One of the greatest moments of joy is celebrating the gift of life—the birth of a new family member, the birthday of a dear friend, and cherished traditions with family during the holidays. Yet in today’s world, the value of life at all ages and stages is under attack.
At Catholic Charities, our mission reinforces the importance of life at every stage, from conception to natural death. Whether through our Respect Life office, our Marisol Health medical clinics for pregnant mothers or our Mulroy Senior Center for the elderly, Catholic Charities seeks to care for the most vulnerable in our community. We infuse the Joy of Life in all we do! When the lives of the unborn are threatened and the elderly are at risk, because of misguided mercy, we need to have the courage to stand up and defend the dignity of life.
So we invite you to pray throughout the month for life.
You are the creator of all human life. We praise you for the gift of life that you have given to each of us. You have made us your children, and fashioned us in your image and likeness.
We turn to you now, Our Father, to ask that you renew among your people a readiness to nurture and sustain the gift of human life from conception to natural death. We pray that mothers and fathers, who may suffer from poverty or difficulties, will place the life of their unborn children above their own needs and wants. We pray that families and community members will protect the lives of the elderly and ill, who are at risk of violence due to indifference or misguided mercy.
In this new year, Father, please grant the St. Teresa Prayer Society the gift of the joy of celebrating life and the courage to defend it. Help us to recognize the dignity of each person you created by sharing the love you showed us by dying on the cross.
