Little Flower Assistance Center Receives Prestigious Spirit Award

The Little Flower Assistance Center, a ministry of Catholic Charities, is like a community superhero. With its multifaceted offerings, including a food pantry, closet for clothing options and resource center, it extends a personalized helping hand to residents across Aurora.

Recently, the dedicated volunteers at Little Flower earned a well-deserved recognition, receiving the prestigious “Spirit Award” from the City of Aurora. The city organized a celebratory event to thank 24 community volunteers and five outstanding organizations honored with Community Spirit Awards.

Donna Porter, the Little Flower Supervisor, expressed her gratitude for the award by saying, “We couldn’t do the work we do here without our dedicated volunteers who work so hard to help others.”

The selection of these award recipients was a result of community nominations, highlighting the gratitude for their work in uplifting the Aurora community. Their compassionate efforts are plentiful, including the distribution of food, clothing and personal hygiene items, and notably, coordinating the annual Joy Drive. This heartwarming program ensures that those who are less fortunate receive the joy of Christmas through donated gifts.

The “Spirit Award” isn’t just a simple pat on the back for Little Flower; it’s a thank you from the community for our unwavering commitment to assisting those who require a helping hand.
