Why Saint Teresa of Calcutta?
Mother Teresa of Calcutta, now St. Teresa of Calcutta, provides a perfect example for how we must pursue our own mission here at Catholic Charities. She constantly insisted that “everything begins with prayer.” Ultimately, it was her prayer that strengthened her to love like God and to serve like Christ as she tirelessly served the poorest of the poor. She is the perfect model for us!
What do members do?
Members are asked to pray for Catholic Charities and those we serve on a daily basis. New members will receive a prayer card to guide them in their daily prayer, along with a St. Teresa necklace medallion, which will serve as a reminder of their commitment to the society.
General intentions will be emailed to Society members once each month, and specific intentions will be emailed as necessary throughout the year. Catholic Charities will accept members’ prayer intentions and offer them during our weekly Mass in our chapel. They will remain near the tabernacle for several days after having been presented.
September: Housing Services
Sadly before, during, and most likely after the Covid-19 pandemic comes to an end, people will need housing. Aware of this prevalent need, Catholic Charities Denver has and will continue to work with national, state, and local agencies to provide housing for families, single women, and US veterans. Currently, CC Denver provides accommodations in Denver, Ft. Collins, Greeley, and the Western slope. Over 500 women, families, and veterans are welcomed each night to Catholic Charities locations in the Denver area alone.
St. Teresa of Calcutta provides encouragement and support for our CC housing ministry with her words, “May God bless all your efforts to help refugees and displaced persons. May you bring God’s love, hope, and strength to the homeless and destitute. Remember the words of Jesus, ‘I was a stranger, and you took care of me.’”
During September, we ask your prayers to support this important and needed ministry.
St. Teresa of Calcutta,
through your life and ministry you gave us an example of welcoming and caring for all who come to our doors. Help staff and volunteers at Catholic Charities Denver to follow in your footsteps embracing the words of Jesus.
