Larry Smith, the president and CEO of Catholic Charities in the Archdiocese of Denver, is scheduled to give testimony on Monday afternoon, Nov. 9, to the Republican Study Committee of Colorado. The public is encouraged to attend. For more information on Monday’s hearing, go to http://rscc.us.
The committee’s informational hearing is on the subject of “Fetal Tissue Trafficking” and will run from 9 a.m. to noon, and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., in Senate Committee Room 356 of the State Capitol building, 200 E. Colfax Ave., in Denver.
Smith’s remarks will focus on the “Continuum of Care” provided by Catholic Charities, including its range of Women’s Services that includes Lighthouse Women’s Center, a pregnancy resource center located across from Planned Parenthood.
Real Choices — with locations in Boulder, CU Boulder and Lafayette — recently became part of Catholic Charities, creating a regional network of pregnancy resource centers.
“There is much controversy over the practices of Planned Parenthood,” said Smith. “We’re here to say that Catholic Charities has an answer to the tragedy of abortion. It is to meet women, men and families in crisis, right where they are, and to provide love, mercy and essential resources to them in their moments of greatest need.”
