HELP SAVE LIVES THIS SUMMER!
There’s no summer vacation on the streets. You can transform and save a life.
The summer months are challenging for those in need, especially anyone living on the streets. The unforgiving heat can make an already desperate situation more dangerous but your gift today can make the difference!
A brave mother of four shared her experience one summer.
“It was a scorching, muggy summer, I was living in my car with my four kids. I lost my job and my rent increased to the point that I couldn’t afford it anymore. We became homeless. Without a home, regular showers and hot meals were not an option. What should have been a time for us to enjoy summer activities and get ready for the school year became a time of anxiety. There was nothing worse as a mom than seeing my children live out of our car.
“Then we went to Catholic Charities in Greeley and received the support we needed to build a new future. Nutritious meals, a private room, and laundry facilities allowed my family to heal from the trauma we experienced. I received guidance to prepare for job interviews and was soon hired as an assistant manager at a local restaurant. I was able to develop a sensible budget and strategy to increase my credit score. In time, I found housing that had room for all my kids. The resources and encouragement from the Guadalupe shelter staff gave me and my family the motivation to move from helplessness to hopefulness.”
All of our ministries see the impact of the high temperatures on the most vulnerable including families with children, who are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population.(1) Heat exhaustion is common for the elderly, working poor and homeless. Many forget the dangers of the summer heat.
Will you help us get through the extreme summer months?
May the Lord bless you and keep you,
