Denver, CO — Volunteers and The Westin Denver Downtown staff will serve a culinary Thanksgiving Day meal to hundreds of people at Catholic Charities’ Samaritan House shelter who are experiencing homelessness.
For the 18th year, the hotel is partnering with Catholic Charities of Denver to give back to those less fortunate by preparing a special Thanksgiving meal for the shelter residents. Some 500 residents struggling with homelessness will enjoy the hot meal prepared by the hotel culinary team. Volunteers and staff will prepare to serve the meal at 11 a.m., Nov. 28, at the Denver shelter.
“All the residents at Samaritan House, as well as at our women’s shelter, will be served a hot Thanksgiving meal,” said Mike Sinnett, vice president of Catholic Charities shelters and community outreach. “We want to show people dignity on a day when we’re thankful to serve those in need.”
“We have partnered with Samaritan House on this event for 18 years,” said John Everett, General Manager of The Westin Denver Downtown. “Each year, it is an honor for our hotel to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal for those in need, and something we look forward to doing every Thanksgiving.”
Samaritan House will also serve a Thanksgiving meal to upwards of 150 women at the new Samaritan House Women’s Shelter in northeast Denver.
