“You Always Have to Go Forward”

For Bianca, life has always been about moving forward — one determined step at a time. As a single mom of two energetic boys, she has faced seasons of uncertainty, but she has never lost sight of the future she wants for her family.

Her journey to Samaritan House Greeley began when she made the courageous decision to leave an unhealthy environment and rebuild her life. “Is this the life you want for yourself?” she remembers asking in the mirror. “Always crying, by yourself?” The answer was clear. She wanted safety, stability and hope for herself and her children.

With little more than resolve, Bianca packed up her boys and began the long drive to Colorado, where she believed she could find a fresh start. She spent the next several months staying with friends and family while working hard to regain her footing. It was during this time that she was connected to Samaritan House Greeley — a welcoming, family-focused shelter operated by Catholic Charities that provides safe housing, supportive services and a path toward stability for people experiencing homelessness.

From the moment she arrived, she felt something she had not felt in a long time: peace. “Everything I ask — they find a way to help,” Bianca said. Her boys quickly felt at home, welcomed by staff and fellow guests who treated them with kindness and respect. They loved the meals, and even more, the caring people who prepared them.

As she settled into the stability of the shelter, a friend experiencing housing insecurity reached out to Bianca for guidance. She did not hesitate to share the resource that had made such a difference for her family. “Your kids will be loved here,” she told her friend. “And you’ll feel safe.”

Through Samaritan House Greeley, Bianca connected with the City of Greeley’s Rapid Rehousing team, who helped her secure low-income housing for her family. With this new stability, she is focused on creating a home where her children can thrive and continuing to build the future she has always envisioned.

Her motto remains simple and powerful: You always have to go forward. And that is exactly what Bianca is doing — step by courageous step.
