Catholic Charities’ Record-Breaking School Supply Drive

Surpassing all expectations, this year’s School Supply drive was our largest yet. With over a thousand backpacks and supplies given to families within our ministries and community, there is one less thing to worry about when children suit up for the beginning of the school year.

The contributions of parishes were the driving force behind this year’s success. With record breaking donations, we were able to provide backpacks suited for students from kindergarten to high school, ensuring that each child receives supplies appropriate for their grade.

“What a privilege to partner with Parishes throughout the Dioceses to provide a record number of backpacks and school supplies for the families we serve. This year, due to the incredible generosity of our wonderful Catholic Charities family, we provided over 1,000 backpacks,” shared volunteer engagement specialist Jennifer Cerf.

”Education is a cornerstone of growth and opportunity, and at Catholic Charities, we believe that every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of their background or circumstances. Our annual school supply drive serves as a powerful reminder of our commitment to this belief, and it has been an honor to witness the incredible support from our community.”

None of this would have been possible without the dozens of volunteers from Just Serve Colorado who signed up to make a difference. Their efforts were significant in unloading and organizing the mountains of backpacks. By categorizing the backpacks based on pick-ups, they helped ensure that each child received their personalized backpack.

“The overwhelming support from our parishes and the dedication of the Just Serve Colorado volunteers have made this school supply drive an unparalleled success. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to empower children with the resources they need to thrive in their studies,” said Mark Hahn, volunteer and parish relations director.

For those who received backpacks, it’s not just about the materials; it’s about the hope and support they represent. These backpacks signify a community that cares about their future and believes in their potential.

We are grateful for the generosity of our donors, volunteers and partners who continue to make these initiatives possible. Together, we are making a difference one backpack at a time.
