Your HELP Gives a Homeless Family
a New Lease on HOPE
Sabrina A. was struggling to keep her family together. She was in school to become a nurse, while also caring for her ailing mother. Sabrina had recently become guardian of her niece and nephew. Her modest income couldn’t keep up, and the family was evicted from their apartment.
Sabrina turned to Charities’ Samaritan House Family Services Program. Because of generous donors like you, the family was given the chance to rebuild the foundation for long-term success and stability.
Staff helped enroll Sabrina’s niece and nephew into the neighborhood school and ensure their special needs would be met. The Samaritan House legal team aided Sabrina’s mom in appealing a previous denial of her Social Security benefits. In-house counselors supported each family member’s journey to healing from the stress and strain of being homeless.
Prayerful givers put a stable roof over their heads, allowing Sabrina to finish her CNA certification and apply to nursing school. The family was even able to save some of their monthly income for future needs and was accepted into a transitional housing program just before Christmas.
“I don’t know where we would’ve ended up without all of you,” Sabrina said. “Thank you so very much.”
