TAX CREDITS

A tax credit is a dollar for dollar reduction on the taxes you owe, as opposed to a deduction that reduces the gross income on which your taxes are calculated. The tax credit program through which you donate determines the credit amount. See descriptions below and please call 720.799.9311 with any questions.

CHILD CARE
CONTRIBUTION CREDIT

Support children in need and receive a 50% state credit.

This credit seeks to increase the quality and availability of child care in metro Denver. The state of Colorado allows you to take a 50% tax credit on your state income taxes when you donate to Catholic Charities. Your gift will support Early Childhood Education and Marisol Homes.

Our Early Childhood Education Program provides quality education and child care at six locations in the Denver Metro area. Marisol Homes provides safe and secure emergency and community-based housing for pregnant women, and single women with children, who are experiencing homelessness.

This is a tax credit, not just a tax deduction. For more information about this tax credit, click the red button below.

• Samaritan House Women's Shelter (Denver)
• Guadalupe Community Center (Greeley)

PLANNED GIVING

When you consider Catholic Charities in your Planned Giving, you are helping increase our capacity to meet the needs of the most vulnerable across Northern Colorado. A planned gift is a simple way to create enduring and lasting impact by supporting neighbors and transforming lives far into the future.

STOCK, IRA & DONOR ADVISED FUND

DONATE STOCK & SECURITIES

Donating appreciated stock and securities has several benefits, including a federal charitable tax deduction and the ability to avoid capital gains taxes upon sale of appreciated stock. Please be sure to check with your financial advisor as stock held for less than one year does not typically qualify. You can wire stock or mail certificates and all donations in this form must be accompanied by a letter detailing designation.

DONATE FROM YOUR IRA

If you are 72 years or older, you may be able to make a tax-free qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from your IRA and benefit Catholic Charities at the same time! QCDs reduce taxable income, satisfy your required minimum distribution and maximize your charitable impact. Making an IRA donation is simple.

DONATE FROM YOUR DONOR ADVISED FUND

If you have a donor advised fund and would like to make a recommendation for a gift to Catholic Charities, please reach out to Donor Relations at 720.799.9311, email donorrelations@ccdenver.org or reach out to your Philanthropic Advisor.

DONATE ITEMS AT SAMARITAN HOUSE

Donations of material items are always needed and appreciated. Here’s what we can share with our clients, participants and residents in our programs:

  • New or gently used clothing for women, men and children – all sizes and types of clothing are appreciated. We really love getting warm clothes as we head into colder months and summer clothes as we head into the warmer months.
  • Small household goods are always needed, but we can’t accept televisions, computers or furniture. Thanks for understanding.
  • New undergarments still in the packaging, especially for women, are always in short supply.
  • Personal hygiene items like lip balm, deodorant, toothpaste & toothbrushes, feminine products, shampoo and conditioner are needed and appreciated year-round.
  • Reusable water bottles (new or lightly used).
  • Books

Catholic Charities is a 501(c)(3) public charity of the Catholic Church, is a separate entity from the Archdiocese of Denver and receives less than 4% of our annual funding from the Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal. Our legal status enables Catholic Charities to safeguard donations to serve those reached by our ministries. Donations to fund our charitable work do not go to any Archdiocese of Denver programs or causes but go directly to people who are served through Catholic Charities services.
