What is a Tax Credit?
Child Care Contribution Credit
A tax credit is a dollar for dollar reduction on the taxes you owe, as opposed to a deduction that reduces the gross income on which your taxes are calculated. The tax credit program through which you donate determines the credit amount.
Support children in need – receive up to a 50% state credit
What is the Child Care Contribution Credit?
This credit seeks to increase the quality and availability of child care in metro Denver. The state of Colorado allows you to take up to a 50% tax credit on your state income taxes when you donate to Catholic Charities. Your gift will support Early Childhood Education and Marisol Homes.
Enterprise Zone Tax Credit
The state of Colorado allows you to take up to a 25% tax credit on your state income taxes when you donate to any one of these four Catholic Charities homeless shelters through the Enterprise Zone Tax Credit Program:
• Samaritan House (Denver)
• Samaritan House Women's Shelter (Denver)
• Guadalupe Community Center (Greeley)
• Samaritan House Fort Collins

Stock, IRA, DAF
Donate Stock and Securities
Donating appreciated stock and securities has several benefits, including a federal charitable tax deduction and the ability to avoid capital gains taxes upon sale of appreciated stock. Please be sure to check with your financial advisor as stock held for less than one year does not typically qualify. You can wire stock or mail certificates and all donations in this form must be accompanied by a letter detailing designation.
Donate from your IRA
If you are 72 years or older, you may be able to make a tax free qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from your IRA and benefit Catholic Charities at the same time! QCDs reduce taxable income, satisfy your required minimum distribution, and maximize your charitable impact. Making an IRA donation is simple.
Donate from your Donor Advised Fund
If you have a donor advised fund and would like to make a recommendation for a gift to Catholic Charities, please reach out to Donor Relations at 720-799-9311 or write firstname.lastname@example.org or reach out to your Philanthropic Advisor.

Catholic Charities of Denver is a 501(c)(3), a public charity of the Catholic Church and a separate legal entity from the Archdiocese of Denver. Its legal status enables Catholic Charities to safeguard donations to serve those reached by our ministries. Donations to fund our charitable work will not go to the Archdiocese of Denver’s reparations program but will go directly to people who are served through Catholic Charities services.
