Residents go to Walmart for first social outing

After more than two years, the residents of Cathedral Plaza decided where to go for their first social outing together: Walmart.

Four residents at the downtown Denver affordable housing complex, run by Archdiocesan Housing, climbed into the community van to go to the local shopping center.

Diane smiled saying it felt great to go with other neighbors.

“It feels good,” she shared while inside. “I’m just getting some things that I need, including food.”

The other residents Zina, Steve and Dani agreed that the resident activity coordinator, Archie Holtz, is fun to spend time with during activities.

Archie shared, “It’s also just the freedom of getting out. The last time we went out was March 13, 2020. Today it’s April 8, 2022.”

Archie is planning other social activities for residents at Cathedral Plaza and Marian Plaza, including lunch at the Black-eyed Pea restaurant. She is one of many activity coordinators for Archdiocesan Housing locations.

Archdiocesan Housing operates 30 service-enriched affordable housing complexes in northern Colorado and Wyoming. It is an affiliate of Catholic Charities of Denver.
